Sermon: The Practical Education Of Freedom, Love and Wisdom – 06.10.2007

Freedom, love and wisdom are like unto walking, speaking and thinking in that by nature and nurture these human gifts unfold developmentally. Unlike other living creatures, we are not adapted at birth for survival in a given habitat but are born developmentally free. Our environs do not necessarily condition our destinies; we may develop unique capacities that empower our hands, heart and mind to adapt our environs to serve our individual destinies. The fount of visceral energy we have to resist the conditioning of our destinies by circumstance is joy. I hope to share with you means to nurture joy by meeting the innate freedom of the human being with practical reverence that allows gratitude and wisdom to unfold. Rob Kingsolver will host.

Sermon: Studying Peace – 06.03.2007

Over the past month, a Wednesday evening class has been studying peace, using some in connection with the current peacemaking study/action issue as selected at last year’s UU General Assembly. We’ll look at the class’s experience and where we might go from here.
