I recently attended the Human Relations Commission – sponsored presentation by Jane Elliott, the teacher who, in the wake of the assassination of Dr. King, tried to find ways that her class of white children could understand why colorbased discrimination is wrong. I’ll share some of her teaching, and look at some steps we at TJ might take.

This year, the UUA’s Standing on the Side of Love initiative is looking to make Valentine’s Day more than candy hearts and sentiments starting “Roses are red”. We’ll look at Greg Mortenson’s story, from his books Three Cups of Tea and Stones into Schools as examples of how love and compassion could change the world.
